Style Research

EACH student is to ad one style research page to the folio

Once you have drawn your design option – you need to research the style that it most commonly resembles.

There are THREE parts to this task

1. Finding the style of your design option

Your design option might resemble more than one. If this is the case then pick the most predominant. Furniture styles include (but are not limited to):

  • Art Nouveau
  • Bauhaus
  • Art Deco
  • Modernism
  • Scandinavian
  • Late 20th Century Rebellion
  • Minimalism
  • Flat Packing and Replica Furniture
  • Japanese
  • etc.
  • More info here and in yellow book chapter 11

2. Giving evidence for your belief

Once you have found the style you need to provide THREE reasons for this belief using the different influences and design features.

3. Research the style

Provide at least 2 images of the same style. Either another piece of furniture (or maybe a house). Then write a paragraph with information about the style somewhere on the page. (use yellow book page 268 for ideas as well as chapter 11)
